Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have confirmed they are officially engaged, revealing the news on Tuesday with a series of photos capturing the proposal in a garden adorned with pink and white roses.

The 14-time Grammy-winning singer and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end shared the moment in a joint Instagram post, cheekily captioned: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

The couple’s relationship began in 2023 after Kelce attended Swift’s Eras Tour stop in Kansas City. On his podcast New Heights, co-hosted with his brother Jason Kelce, Travis admitted he had hoped to meet Swift backstage and gift her a friendship bracelet with his number on it, though he never got the chance. Friendship bracelets quickly became a defining symbol of the tour, inspired by Swift’s lyrics in You’re On Your Own, Kid.

Months later, rumours of romance swirled as Swift was spotted at Kelce’s NFL games, eventually confirming the pair were together. Their love story has since unfolded in the public eye, blending two worlds of music and sport.

In the latest New Heights episode, which also featured Swift announcing her upcoming 12th studio album The Life of a Showgirl, the singer credited the podcast for sparking their relationship.

“This podcast got me a boyfriend ever since Travis decided to use it as his personal dating app about two years ago,” Swift joked, adding that Kelce’s determination had echoes of her song lyrics.

Kelce playfully recalled his persistence: “I was sitting there at the Eras Tour listening to every single one of those songs like, ‘I know what she wants me to do.’”

The couple’s engagement announcement was soundtracked by Swift’s song So High School, from her 2024 album The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology. Fans have long speculated the track was inspired by Kelce, with its lyric: “You know how to ball, I know Aristotle.”

With Swift set to release a new album and Kelce preparing for another NFL season, the pair’s wedding is expected to be one of the most high-profile unions of music and sport in recent years.
