The former Cameroon defender was a free agent after leaving Liverpool this summer.

Matip's last competitive game came against Fulham in December 2023 when he suffered an ACL injury.

The lanky centre back spent eight seasons at Anfield, making 201 appearances across all competitions and scoring 11 goals.

His list of honours on the red side of Merseyside included a Premier League title, one Champions League trophy, League Cup, FA Cup and UEFA Super Cup.

Matip started his career at Schalke 04, where he won the DFB Pokal in 2011.

Born in Germany, Matip played international football for Cameroon, the country of his father's birth, and won 27 caps, featuring at two FIFA World Cups.
