The Member of Parliament for Nkoranza North in the Bono East Region, Hon. Joseph Kwasi Mensah, has cut the sod for the construction of a new three-unit classroom block at Alataline, a suburb of Kranka, to improve access to quality education.

The project, funded by the MP through his share of the District Assembly Common Fund, will include a teachers’ office, a KVIP toilet, and a urinal.

It is expected to be completed within four months.

Speaking at a colourful ceremony on Monday, June 8, 2026, Hon. Mensah said an assessment showed the old classroom block was deplorable and unsafe, describing it as a “death trap” that endangered pupils.

He said Alataline was selected on merit due to the urgent need, as the old structure was no longer fit for use.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Effah Patrick, popularly known as Hon. Patoo, welcomed the project.

He said the new building would meet standards for a healthy and safe learning environment and reflects the government’s commitment to bridging the rural-urban school infrastructure gap.

The Odikro of Alataline, Morro Naa, expressed gratitude to the MP, DCE, and the District Assembly.

He recounted how the poor state of the old building forced teachers and pupils to stay away from school during the rains.

“Some teachers had abandoned the school entirely, but I believe the new block will restore confidence and boost enrollment,” Morro Naa noted.

The facility is expected to be ready before the end of the 2026 academic year.
