Hon. Elizabeth commissions mechanized borehole for Takyikrom residents
Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, MP for Techiman North and Trade Minister, commissioned a mechanized borehole in Takyikrom to provide clean water, part of plans for 10+ boreholes in the district under the Mahama-led government.
The Member of Parliament for Techiman North and Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, together with the Techiman North District Chief Executive, Hon. Adom Kwabena Johnson, officially inaugurated a mechanized borehole serving the residents of Takyikrom, a community within the Techiman North District of the Bono East Region.
This initiative seeks to deliver reliable, clean, and safe drinking water to the people of Takyikrom and neighboring areas, who have long faced serious difficulties in obtaining potable water.
During the commissioning event, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare disclosed that ensuring access to safe water is essential for better public health and stronger livelihoods. She highlighted that the new mechanized borehole reflects her ongoing dedication to tackling urgent challenges in underserved parts of her constituency.
She pointed out that dependable water supply would help curb the spread of water-related illnesses, lighten the heavy load carried by women and children who previously had to walk great distances for water, and promote improved hygiene throughout the locality.
“As a woman myself, I fully recognize the hardships women endure daily just to fetch water for their households. When the residents of Takyikrom shared their urgent need for clean and reliable water, I made it my top priority to deliver this solution for them.”
She revealed that the Takyikrom facility is one element of a larger plan to expand water access across the entire district.
“This year, I aim to deliver at least ten mechanized boreholes throughout the district. Additionally, eight boreholes we began last year have now been completed and will be officially handed over to their respective communities very soon.”
Hon. Ofosu-Adjare further reassured the people of Techiman North that the district holds a key place in the current administration’s infrastructure agenda led by President John Dramani Mahama.
“I want to promise the residents of Techiman North that President Mahama’s government is firmly focused on infrastructure development, and this district will not be overlooked. Beyond these boreholes, numerous other development projects are actively progressing here to drive progress across Techiman North.”
She also underscored the need for responsible upkeep to guarantee the project’s long-term success.
“A strong culture of maintenance is crucial. I have encouraged the community to safeguard this water facility diligently so it continues to fulfill its intended role. I have full confidence that the people will select capable individuals to manage and oversee the Takyikrom project for the lasting advantage of everyone in the area and beyond.”
In response, local residents conveyed deep gratitude to the MP and the government for addressing their longstanding struggle for clean water.
“We sincerely thank Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare and the NDC administration for providing us with this mechanized borehole. For years, lack of accessible potable water was our greatest hardship, but thanks to our dedicated MP’s efforts, that problem is now behind us,” remarked a representative from the community.
The event drew attendance from traditional leaders, assembly members, party officials, and many residents, all of whom hailed the borehole as a much-needed and impactful development.
The new mechanized borehole is anticipated to greatly ease the daily challenges faced by women and children who once had to travel far for water, while also contributing to better sanitation standards and healthier living conditions in Takyikrom and the surrounding communities.
