"WE HAVE NOT GOTTEN OUR SHARE" - ATWIMA NWABIAGYA COUNCIL OF ZONGO CHIEFS LAMENTS NEGLECT BY NDC GOVERNMENT

The Atwima Nwabiagya Council of Zongo Chiefs says the Zongo communities in the district feel neglected under the current NDC government.

Speaking to the media, the President of the Council, Chief Issaka Amadu Ramadan II, said despite massive campaign support for the NDC during the elections, the Zongo youth have not benefited from job opportunities in the district.

Chief Ramadan II stated that since the NDC government assumed power, no employment opportunities have been given to Zongo youth in Atwima Nwabiagya.

"We campaigned massively for the NDC government, but up to now no job opportunity has been given to our youth in this district. We feel we have not gotten our share," he said.

The Chief further expressed concern that the District Assembly does not involve the Zongo community in its programs and activities.

"We feel neglected because the Assembly doesn’t invite us to any programs. Government should remember that we are also part of Ghana and they should leave a mark in the Zongo communities," he added.

Despite the concerns, Chief Ramadan II advised the youth to stay away from social vices and drug abuse.

He said they should remain hopeful because jobs will eventually come, but warned that engaging in crime will destroy their future.

He is therefore appealing to the government and the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal Assembly to prioritize the Zongo communities in employment and development projects to ensure no group is left behind.
