Nigerian Man Jailed 10 Months After Masturbating in Front of Woman on UK Train

A Nigerian man in the United Kingdom, Babatunde Odutola, has been sentenced to 10 months in prison after exposing himself and masturbating in front of a woman on a train travelling towards Manchester.

Odutola, 36, who has no fixed address and is a registered sex offender, was sentenced by Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 14, following the incident on a train travelling through Cheshire towards Manchester Piccadilly.

According to the British Transport Police, Odutola approached the woman while she was travelling alone and looked her up and down.

Police said he became aggressive after the woman refused to engage with him before exposing himself while seated in a wheelchair.

He then masturbated while staring at the woman and telling her to “come over,” according to police.

A fellow passenger reportedly intervened and escorted the distressed woman away from the carriage.

CCTV CAPTURED  INCIDENT 

British Transport Police said CCTV footage showed Odutola continuing to masturbate while other passengers walked through the carriage.

Officers arrested him after the train arrived at Manchester Piccadilly railway station.

He was subsequently prosecuted and sentenced within 72 hours of the incident.

Detective Constable Leonidas Christoforou of the British Transport Police described Odutola’s conduct as “terrifying” for the victim.

According to the detective, Odutola had allegedly singled out the woman while she was travelling alone.

“He’s shown little remorse for his actions and denied the allegations against him during his police interview,” Christoforou said.

However, CCTV footage and witness accounts provided evidence against him.

Odutola eventually pleaded guilty in court and was sentenced to 10 months in prison.
