A New Chapter for Islamabad Cricket: Leaders Reunite for the Game

Is this the turning point for cricket in Islamabad? Will this meetup lead to something significant? Some old friends are coming back together for the love of cricket in the capital city.

Shakeel Ahmed Sheikh got relief as he returned as President of the Islamabad Cricket Association. On his return, he invited Umar Shabbir (President National Cricket Club), Faisal Bin Nasser (Vice President National Cricket Club), Saboor Ali Awan (ESSCO Cricket Club), and Muhammad Hassan (renowned journalist). It was a key milestone in Islamabad cricket where two of the oldest clubs met with the President of the Islamabad Cricket Association.

It was a meetup where Umar Shabbir, President of NCC, honoured Shakeel Sheikh for his hard work and game-changing milestones in cricket. Saboor Awan, President of ECC, also appreciated the initiatives taken during Sheikh’s leadership. On the other hand, Sheikh also appreciated Umar Shabbir and Saboor Awan for their tireless work in cricket and for not limiting themselves to raising their voices only for NCC and ECC.

Sheikh also added that the precious presence of Faisal Bin Nasser and Muhammad Hassan will be a great addition. As he stated, the media is a crucial stakeholder, and having such big and humble people with us is important. He especially honoured Muhammad Hassan for his Turkiye Urdu Initiative.

While Umar Shabbir (NCC) and Saboor Awan (ECC) said that they are pleased that Sheikh is returning to Islamabad cricket, as they worked hard for the rise of cricket, but somewhere they need someone to teach and show the right way to all the boys working hard to represent us on the global stage. Like Shabbir Ahmed (former President NCC) and Sheikh, they contributed not only to cricket in Islamabad but also to the national team.

It was overall a healthy meetup between representatives of the two biggest cricket clubs and the President of the Islamabad Cricket Association. It was aimed to be a game-changing milestone that would give young boys hope—just keep your work going, there are people working day and night for your future.
