The celebrations will be officially launched on June 24, 2026, under the theme: “From Excellence to Eminence: 75 Years of KNUST.”
Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee, Prof. William Otoo Ellis, explained that the theme emerged from extensive consultations and reflects the University’s determination to build on its tradition of excellence while positioning itself for greater global relevance in higher education, research, and innovation.
As part of the launch, KNUST will unveil a special publication documenting its history, achievements, and contributions over the past seven decades. Prof. Ellis noted that the idea was conceived during the 70th Anniversary, highlighting the need for a comprehensive record of the University’s growth and impact.
The anniversary programme will feature:
Inter-College Quiz Competition
Radio and TV documentaries showcasing KNUST’s innovations and inventions
Community impact projects led by the University’s colleges
Awards ceremony to honour distinguished alumni, staff, and students
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson commended the Planning Committee for its dedication, describing the preparations as a significant step towards a memorable celebration. She assured the committee of Management’s continued support, emphasizing collaboration to ensure a smooth and stress-free process.
