NPP Chairmanship Aspirant : Yaw Kwarteng Rejects D.O Alex Victory, Threatens Court, Demands Rerun

BODI, Western North Region Tension has gripped the Bodi Constituency of the New Patriotic Party following Saturday’s constituency chairmanship election.

The Electoral Commission declared _D.O Alex_ as winner. But Chairmanship aspirant Yaw Kwarteng has rejected the results, saying the collated figures show the election ended in a tie.

Addressing supporters, Mr. Kwarteng alleged procedural lapses during collation and demanded a fresh election under strict supervision. He also threatened legal action if the party fails to address his concerns.

“We conducted ourselves peacefully. The records in our possession show a tie, After declaration of the result my left the election centre to my residence and later in the night ,we heard that Ec has declared the other aspirant winner" Mr. Kwarteng hinted. 

" i have officially rejected the declared results and we are calling for a rerun to safeguard the integrity of the party. If our petition is ignored, we will seek redress in court,” he added.

Some polling agents also alleged they left their posts before collation ended, creating room for discrepancies.

Party elders and delegates are urging calm as the Western North Regional Executives prepare to meet both sides to review the petition.

Analysts say the outcome of this contest will be crucial for NPP unity and grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2028 elections.

The EC and NPP Regional Secretariat are yet to comment officially on the call for a rerun.
