The Ghana Education Service (GES) has confirmed that the 2025/2026 academic calendar for senior high schools (SHS) remains unchanged, while unveiling new measures to support off campus learning for students in transitional schools.
Single-Track Schools:
Form 1 & 2 students: January 5 – February 27, break until May 3, return to complete the year by August 21.
Form 3 students: Academic year ends June 21.
Transition Schools:
Form 1 students: Begin with online/off-campus learning from January 5 – 30.
Form 2 students: Off-campus learning from March 16 – April 17.
Form 3 students: Continue uninterrupted in-person learning until June.
To ensure effective teaching during online periods, GES has rolled out:
Free curriculum resources.
Daily live lessons broadcast on MoE TV (Multi TV).
School-based Learning Management Systems (LMS) for eligible institutions.
Management emphasized that these online/off-campus sessions are mandatory teaching and learning periods, not vacations. Heads of schools, teachers, parents, and guardians have been urged to support students in accessing these opportunities.
The confirmation of the SHS academic calendar and introduction of structured off-campus learning is among GES’s commitment to maintaining academic continuity while embracing digital education. The initiative ensures that students across Ghana remain engaged, whether in classrooms or online.
