Security Recruitment : Hundreds Of Applicants Thronged Post Office, Despite Online Option
Hundreds of applicants have thronged the Post Office to purchase vouchers for the security services recruitment.
Hundreds of applicants who want to be recruited in to various security agencies were captured in long queues at the Tamale Post Office on Monday, despite the availability of online option to purchase the vouchers.
The long queues came as a surprise for many, considering the fact that, there is a USSD short code for applicants to purchase the vouchers at the comfort of their homes without having to join long queues for that.
According to the Interior Minister, the purpose for the introduction of the USSD code is to reduce the large number of people at various Banks and Post Offices which may lead some crowd issues.
This comes on the back of the stampede at El wak stadium in Accra where six female applicants lost their lives after a stampede due to overcrowding.
To prevent a repeat of this, the Ministry of Interior announced several measures which include the purchase of vouchers via online also limited number of applicants to be invited to various screening centres.
