Applications are officially open for the 2025 UNESCO/Poland Co-Sponsored Engineering Fellowship Programme — a prestigious, fully funded opportunity for students from developing countries to advance their knowledge in Science, Technology, and Engineering (STE).

Sponsored by the Polish National Commission for UNESCO and AGH University of Krakow, this fellowship offers 28 slots for a 6-month research stay in Poland from October 2025 to March 2026.

Who Can Apply?

This program targets students from developing nations with a strong academic background in Engineering or related disciplines.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Citizenship from one of the eligible developing countries (see list below)

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field

  • English proficiency (non-native speakers need official certification)

Eligible African Countries (21 total):
Angola, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, DR Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Comoros, Seychelles, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia.


Fellowship Benefits

Provided by Polish Authorities:

  • 6 months of free tuition and full access to AGH University resources

  • Monthly allowance:

    • 1,800 PLN (~$450) for BSc holders

    • 2,200 PLN (~$550) for MSc holders

  • One-time settlement allowance (1,800–2,200 PLN) for medical checks, cultural activities, and workshops

Provided by UNESCO:

  • Round-trip international airfare (most economical route)

  • Health insurance

  • $120 pocket allowance

Step 1: Read the Requirements
Carefully review Annex I (Terms & Conditions) and Annex IV (Research Fields).

Step 2: Contact Your National UNESCO Commission
Applications must be endorsed by your country’s National Commission.

Step 3: Prepare Your Documents

  • Completed UNESCO Fellowship Form

  • Passport copy and passport-sized photo

  • Certified degree certificates (with Apostille if required)

  • Proof of English proficiency (if applicable)

  • Two recommendation letters (dated 2025)

Step 4: Submit Through Your National Commission
Deadline: 26 May 2025 — early submission is strongly encouraged.
