Bawku Conflict : MPs House Vandelized And Set Ablaze
Majority Leader and MP For Bawku

It appears the unending conflict in Bawku is far from over following renewed tensions in the area that led to the death of many lives including 3 students.

In what appears to be a new twist, the home of the Member of Parliament for the Bawku Central Constituency and Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga was vandelized and set ablaze by unknown persons.

According to media reports, the Majority Leader's residence was set ablaze after it was vandelized on Saturday night, but no arrest has been made yet.

The latest escalation of the Bawku conflict was sparked by the killing of a Kusasi chief in Asawase in the Ashanti Region and the death of two other people linked to the the conflict.

On Saturday night, one student of the Bawku Senior High School was dragged out of his dormitory and shot dead by unknown assailants who scaled the school's wall.

On that same Saturday night, two students of the Nalerigu Senior High School were also killed by unknown persons after several gun shots were fired on the school campus before the two students were targeted.

As part of measures to prevent further escalation, a 2pm to 6am curfew was imposed on both Bawku and Nalerigu township. The Police and military have beefed up security presence in the Bawku and Nalerigu area to curb further escalation.
