June 16, 2025 – Tel Aviv — Israel’s Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency service confirmed that five people were killed and 92 others injured during missile attacks launched by Iran early Monday morning. The death toll was updated from an earlier count of four.

The strikes hit four different locations in central Israel, resulting in widespread casualties and damage. Among those killed were two women and two men, all approximately 70 years old, as well as one additional person whose identity has not yet been released.

MDA stated that its emergency teams evacuated 92 injured individuals to hospitals. A 30-year-old woman suffered serious facial injuries, six people were listed in moderate condition, and 85 sustained minor wounds. Search and rescue operations remain ongoing at two of the four targeted sites.

The attacks came in apparent retaliation for recent Israeli airstrikes against Iranian military assets deep within Iran. The escalation marks a significant intensification in the ongoing conflict between the two countries.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz responded strongly, warning that “Tehran’s residents will face the consequences of Iran’s attacks on Israeli civilians.”

With tensions at a boiling point, both Israel and Iran have signaled readiness for further military action. International observers are calling for restraint as the threat of a broader regional conflict looms. AFP
