Renowned Ghanaian businessman and philanthropist Ibrahim Mahama has once again extended a compassionate hand to Suzzy Pinamang, the Adventist Senior High School student who was shot in the face earlier this year by a colleague, leaving her with severe eye injuries.

Just days after funding Suzzy’s life-saving eye surgery in the United Kingdom, Mr. Mahama has donated GH¢50,000 to support her continued recovery and welfare.

The donation was presented on Friday, July 4, at Suzzy’s family residence in Kumasi by Rafik Mahama, Special Aide to Ibrahim Mahama, following the trio’s return from the UK the previous night.

■ A Life Reclaimed

Suzzy, whose story captured national attention, underwent specialised eye surgery in the UK fully financed by Mr. Mahama, founder of Engineers & Planners. The procedure was necessary after a tragic classroom shooting incident left her with serious facial and optical injuries.

Her return to Ghana has been met with widespread relief and celebration, as the medical intervention is believed to have saved her vision and transformed her future prospects.

Commitment Beyond the Operation

At the donation ceremony, Rafik Mahama expressed Ibrahim Mahama’s deep personal concern and commitment to Suzzy’s well-being beyond just the surgery.

“This support is not just about money,” Rafik said. “It’s to let Suzzy know she’s not alone. She should feel safe and confident about her future. She has nothing to worry about now that she’s home.”

Members of the family were visibly emotional, expressing profound gratitude for the businessman’s selfless generosity and humanity.

National Praise for a Private Hero

The gesture has drawn praise across the country, with many Ghanaians hailing Ibrahim Mahama not only for stepping in during a traumatic time but for continuing to stand by Suzzy long after the cameras have turned away.

Social media has been awash with tributes, calling the donation and prior sponsorship a model of true leadership and social responsibility.

“This is what nation-building looks like,” one user posted on X (formerly Twitter). “God bless Ibrahim Mahama.”

Healing, Hope, and the Road Ahead

With the surgery complete and financial support secured, Suzzy Pinamang is now set to continue her recovery in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family and with renewed hope for the future.

The donation, Rafik explained, will cater to post-surgical care, educational needs, and general upkeep.

Meanwhile, calls continue for justice and greater safety measures in schools to prevent similar incidents.

As for Suzzy, her story is quickly becoming a symbol of resilience, kindness, and second chances—thanks, in no small part, to the unwavering support of one of Ghana’s most influential philanthropists.
