Mustapha Gbande Slams Akufo-Addo for failing to achieve economic outcomes
Mr Gbande spoke to channel One TV host Umaru Sanda Amadu and was quizzed about Pres John Mahama’s tenure compared to Former Pres Akufo-Addo

Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has denounced immediate past President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for what he labelled as a failure to deliver tangible economic results during his period as Ghana’s head of state.
Gbande blamed the former President of presiding over an economy that witnessed constant depreciation of the Ghanaian cedi against major foreign currencies without taking pragmatic steps to curtailed the situation.
According to him, the current appreciation of the cedi is a direct result of sound policy direction and stewardship under President John Dramani Mahama.
He said the difference between the two administrations underscores what he sees as the NDC’s astute handling of the economy.
Granting an interview to Umaru Sanda Amadu on Channel One TV’s Face to Face evening programme on Tuesday, July 8, Gbande submitted:
“The only reason the dollar was high was because of former President Akufo-Addo’s foreign accent. And President Mahama has a local accent, so his priority is Ghanaian. Nana Addo was using a French accent everywhere—speaking big English—but there was nothing under it.”
“So, the dollar was high. It was a reality, a fact. Nana Addo was speaking foreign accent.”
Gbande’s remarks form part of a broader views by the NDC that seeks to contrast President Mahama’s approach with what they describe as the elitist and out-of-touch governance style of the erstwhile Akufo-Addo government.
