There has recently been riot at Gomoa Assin, the head quarters of Gomoa Assin Traditional Council in the Gomoa West in the Central Region of Ghana.

The residents are worried and some are running away from the community because there is no peace in the community due to chieftaincy dispute between the former Odikro (Nana Kofi Asawomah) and the current Odikro (Nana Ekow Gurah).

According to our reliable source, there has been tension in the community eversince the township and chiefs distooled the then Odikro( Nana Kofi Asawoma V) and Gyaasehene (Nana Kobina Kwan II) a year and few months ago.

According to Nana Ekow Gurah, the newly installed Odikro of the area, it all started when the Apam Police Command tried to put a banned on his outdooring.

He further Stated that some people have pointed fingers at him as the one behind the misunderstanding but he can emphatically say he is rather trying to resolve the issue but the actions by the District Police Command is rather fueling the dispute.

"Now things are getting worse because of the activities of Ghana Police Service at Apam, the Apam police commander and her men are harassing and putting fear in the people of Gomoa Assin" He added.

He later appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, to intervene and advice the Apam police commander and her men because they are rather there to protect people and property but not the other way round.
