Premier League giants Chelsea claimed the first-ever title of the expanded FIFA Club World Cup with a commanding 3-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Sunday night.

Despite being considered underdogs ahead of kickoff, the Blues seized control early and never looked back. England midfielder Cole Palmer stole the spotlight, netting twice within the first 27 minutes to hand Chelsea a comfortable lead.

New signing João Pedro, who joined mid-tournament from Brighton, added a third in the 42nd minute to all but seal the victory before halftime.

Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sánchez stood tall in the second half, producing two outstanding saves to deny PSG any hopes of a comeback.

PSG’s night went from bad to worse when João Neves was sent off late in the game for pulling Marc Cucurella’s hair, capping off a frustrating outing for the French champions.
