Dr. Angela Dwamena-Aboagaye, the founder of The Ark Foundation Ghana, has been crowned the overall winner of the 7th edition of the MTN Heroes of Change. Her unwavering 25-year dedication to providing support for women and children affected by domestic and sexual violence earned her this prestigious honor.
Outstanding Achievements Recognized
The awards, which spotlight exceptional individuals contributing to societal development, also honored three other Ghanaians in specific categories:

Each winner received GHS 60,000 and a commemorative plaque, affirming their crucial roles in community transformation.
Digital Impact Celebrated
In the Digital Category, Nana Tea and the Bus Stop Boys were jointly awarded GHS 30,000 each. Their use of social media to drive support for vulnerable communities demonstrates the rising power of digital advocacy in shaping real-world change.
Honoring Community Collaboration
For the first time in the history of the MTN Heroes of Change, nominators of top 10 finalists received GHC 5,000 each. This new recognition reflects the importance of community involvement in identifying and uplifting changemakers.
Who Is Dr. Angela Dwamena-Aboagaye?
Dr. Dwamena-Aboagaye is a lawyer, gender activist, and Executive Director of The Ark Foundation Ghana. A pioneer in women’s rights, she established Ghana’s first shelter for battered women and led the creation of crisis centers offering legal aid and counseling for survivors of abuse.
Her work has been instrumental in advocating for gender equality, and her organization remains a pillar in Ghana’s fight against domestic and sexual violence.
