Starting July 1, 2025, data bundles on MTN, Telecel, and AirtelTigo will increase by up to 15%, following successful government-telecom negotiations.

Ghana’s Minister for Communications and Digitalisation, Samuel Nartey George, has announced significant increases in data bundle allocations across all major telecommunication networks in Ghana, set to take effect on July 1, 2025.

Addressing the press in Accra, the Minister attributed the improvements to productive engagement between the government and telecom operators, aimed at delivering better value and improving digital access nationwide.

I am pleased to announce that my engagement with the CEOs has resulted in the following specific measures,” Mr. George stated.

GH₵400 bundle upgraded from 195GB to 236GB

Telecel Ghana

10% across all bundles

GH₵400 bundle increased from 90GB to 250GB

MTN Ghana

15% across all bundles

GH₵399 bundle restored to 214GB (previously reduced to GH₵350 for 92.88GB)

Minister Acknowledges Telecom Support

Mr. George acknowledged the financial sacrifice that telecom operators will incur due to these increases but expressed satisfaction at the outcome:

“I am aware these increases will come at considerable cost to the network operators. However, I am glad that our engagements and consultations are bearing fruit for the Ghanaian people.”

He also commended the CEOs of MTN Ghana, Telecel Ghana, and AirtelTigo Ghana for their cooperation and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering a strong public-private partnership in the digital sector.

The adjustments come as part of broader government efforts to improve affordability, data value, and digital accessibility. They are expected to benefit millions of Ghanaians who rely heavily on mobile data for education, business, health, and daily communication.
