Kebbi State Police Arrest 11 Men for Alleged Sexual Assault of 13-Year-Old Girl

On Saturday, July 19, 2025, the Kebbi State Police Command announced the arrest of 11 men from Tungar Giwa village, Shanga Local Government Area, for the alleged repeated sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl, Sa’ima Dauda, resulting in her pregnancy. The command’s spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, detailed the arrests in a statement, underscoring the police’s commitment to combatting gender-based violence in the state.
The suspects, identified as Ibrahim Bakanike, Danladi Nauyi, Danjuma Meli, Ibrahim Dankura, Ibrahim Isiaka, Masta Maishayi, Bello Muhammad, Danjuma Kodo, Aminu Isah, Zayyanu Isah, and Ahmed Usman, reportedly exploited the victim’s vulnerable mental state, luring her with cash payments ranging from N200 to N500. The assaults, which occurred at various locations, led to the girl giving birth to a baby boy on July 8, 2025. Preliminary investigations confirmed that all arrested suspects confessed to the crime.
The arrests were executed on July 13, 2025, by the Divisional Police Officer in Shanga, acting on credible intelligence. Commissioner of Police Bello M. Sani has directed the Deputy Commissioner of the State Criminal Investigation Department to intensify efforts to apprehend two additional suspects who remain at large and to ensure a thorough investigation. The command emphasized its dedication to securing justice for victims and expediting investigations into gender-based violence cases across Kebbi State.
