PTAD Confirms FG’s ₦5.12bn Pension Arrears Payment to Defined Benefit Scheme
Abuja, Nigeria — The Federal Government has approved and released ₦5.12 billion for the payment of outstanding pension arrears to 90,689 retirees under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS).
According to the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), the funds will settle arrears owed to pensioners across various sectors, ensuring they receive long-overdue entitlements.
PTAD assured retirees that the disbursement process is already underway and pledged to maintain transparency in the payment exercise. The agency also reaffirmed its commitment to clearing all outstanding pension obligations in line with President Bola Tinubu’s welfare policies for senior citizens.
This latest payment is expected to provide financial relief to thousands of retirees who have been waiting for years to access their benefits.
