Trump Suggests Biden Administration May Have Linked Him to Epstein Case Files

United States President Donald Trump has suggested that the Biden administration may have inserted his name into criminal case files related to Jeffrey Epstein, the late financier and convicted sex offender.

Speaking during a press briefing in Scotland alongside British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, Trump dismissed the ongoing controversy surrounding Epstein’s case as “a hoax blown out of proportion.” He accused former and current officials—including President Joe Biden, former FBI Director James Comey, and Attorney General Merrick Garland—of mishandling or manipulating Epstein’s files.

“Those files were controlled by the worst scum on Earth... Comey, Garland, Biden, and others who effectively ran the government. If they had anything on me, they would have released it already,” Trump said.

His remarks come a week after a Wall Street Journal report revealed that U.S. officials had informed Trump that his name appeared in documents related to the Epstein case.

The controversy intensified following a July memo from the Department of Justice stating that there was no so-called "client list" tied to Epstein and that no further information would be released. This sparked backlash from both Democrats and Republicans, many of whom demanded greater transparency.

Trump further claimed that his political opponents could have “easily planted something fake” in the files, likening it to the discredited Steele dossier that alleged connections between his 2016 campaign and Russia.

“They can put fake things in those files, just like they did with the Steele dossier,” he said. “Those files were managed by bad, sick people.”
