ACCA Orbit 2025 Summit & AI-Based Employability Fair
On 22nd March, 2025, ACCA hosted the Orbit 2025 Summit & Employability Fair at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) Auditorium. With "AI and the Future of Work" as its theme, the summit covered how accountancy tasks are being reimagined by artificial intelligence—reshaping the profession into strategic advisory and ethical counsel from transactional routines.
Speakers such as Norman Williams (Head, West & Central Africa for ACCA) warned that the professional without AI skills will become obsolete. Panelists such as Akwasi Adu Boahene and Winifred Opoku-Baffour emphasized AI as an enabler—rather than a threat—to finance careers.
The conference featured master classes on blockchain, cryptocurrency, and gig-economy trends and a career fair tailored to boost employability in an era dominated by technology
Induction of 100 New ACCA Members in Ghana
Ghana continued the momentum with the induction of 100 new members on January 25 at Labadi Beach Hotel under the "Accounting for the Future" theme. Col. Noble Carl Doe Del‑Alorse, the ACCA Ghana Network Panel Chair, emphasized flexibility, ethics, and technology in the evolving world of finance.
Award winners of distinction—53 individuals in total—had strong ACCA exam results, which raised Ghana's reputation as a regional finance expertise center. Priorities were placed on continuous learning in digital and sustainable finance—a strategy that is to become a permanent part of ACCA's professional development agenda.
ACCA's Strategic Role in Digital & Sustainable Finance
ACCA is at the forefront with a digital transformation for members in Ghana. Along with AI, the institute is incorporating sustainable finance topics and ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) within its products. These are being incorporated into curriculum reforms, certifications, and masterclasses—albeit to the dismay of some ACCA students globally who have complained about the role of ESG in the profession.
At Orbit 2025, ethical use of AI was a common thread—emphasizing that automation must come with trust, integrity, and governance. The emphasis on lifelong learning is a sign of the shift from entry-level positions to analytical and advisory high-end capabilities jobs.
Why ACCA's Activities Are Trending in Ghana
Relevance at the right time: AI preparedness and ethical advisory are timely issues with businesses becoming digital.
Relevance to the career: New member induction illustrates ACCA's increasing relevance within the finance industry of Ghana.
Professional standing: Collaboration with big organizations like KPMG, PwC, and EY for Orbit elevates the standing of ACCA.
What's Next for ACCA in Ghana
In the near future, ACCA activities in Ghana will likely expand to:
Continuing AI and ESG professional programs—attached to sustainable development goals.
Greater collaboration with academic institutions and recruiter networks, enhancing internship and employment prospects.
Greater digital transformation of the finance profession, potentially extending to policy and industry standards in Ghana and West Africa.
ACCA Ghana's latest project—centred on AI readiness, ethical guidance, and bringing aboard the crème de la crème of finance professionals—is turning it into a buzzword within the field of education, business, and careers.
