Akufo-Addo Hails Apostle Safo as Visionary Innovator and Cherished Friend

Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has paid glowing tribute to the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, describing him as an industrious, innovative and generous leader whose impact will be long remembered.
On Tuesday, September 16, the former President, accompanied by the Minority Leader and MP for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, former Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, and other former appointees of his government, visited the bereaved family at Taifa, Accra, to commiserate with them.
In a heartfelt message shared on his official social media platforms, Akufo-Addo recalled his first encounter with Apostle Safo, which began as a professional relationship when he served as his lawyer. Over time, he said, that bond evolved into a personal one built on respect and admiration.
“My first direct contact with Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka was a professional one. I became his lawyer after, in his customary manner, a thorough search for effective legal representation for his Church and himself was made by him. Over time, my relationship with him transcended the boundaries of legal representation and became personal,” he wrote.
Reflecting on the life of the Kristo Asafo Mission founder, Akufo-Addo praised his relentless pursuit of innovation, likening him to Renaissance figure Leonardo da Vinci in his ability to blend faith and science.
“At this moment of his sad passing, I recall, in Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, a gracious, humorous, elegant, handsome leader, who, like Da Vinci’s scientific association with the Catholic Church, strove manfully to bridge the gap between the modern church and scientific and technological innovation,” he noted.
The former President also acknowledged the invaluable support Apostle Safo and the Kristo Asafo Mission extended to him personally and to the New Patriotic Party over the years.
Extending his condolences, he commiserated with Apostle Safo’s daughter, former Dome-Kwabenya MP and Minister for Gender and Social Protection, Sarah Adwoa Safo, as well as his other children and the entire family, praying for his peaceful rest.
Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, widely known for his pioneering role in blending faith, science, and technology in Ghana, leaves behind a legacy of innovation, compassion, and leadership.
