The Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) saw a heartfelt reunion on Tuesday between Mr. Targule Aya and his 10-month-old son. The boy is the only family member left alive after the recent attacks in Yelewata that claimed the lives of his wife and three children.
Over the weekend, suspected herdsmen attacked Yelewata and Daudu communities in Guma Local Government Area. The number of people killed has now gone up to about 200.
Emotional Reunion: A Glimmer of Hope Amidst Tragedy
A key moment happened when another survivor of the violence, also receiving treatment at the hospital, recognized the baby. The survivor contacted Mr. Aya, who had survived the attack but lost his entire family. The reunion was emotional, with tears flowing during their meeting.
The hospital confirmed that they will keep providing full medical care to help the child recover completely.
Tinubu's Expected Visit to Address Benue Crisis
President Bola Tinubu is expected to visit Benue on Wednesday. He will meet leaders from different groups, including traditional rulers, political and religious figures, and youth groups. The goal is to find a lasting way to end the violence.
