BoG is working on Ghana's cryptocurrency regulations
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Bank of Ghana (BoG), and other interested parties are working together to finalize a framework for regulating digital assets and cryptocurrency in Ghana.

When finished, the framework should reduce risk, promote responsible innovation, and provide clarity in accordance with international standards for laws governing digital assets.
"Crypto currency is an emerging area that requires our attention. I want to encourage all banks and financial institutions to begin preparing now because we have no choice but to embrace," the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Johnson Pandit Asiama said at a meeting with heads of banks on Tuesday [June 3, 2025].
