Two shops located close to the Circle VVIP terminal in Accra were destroyed by fire on Saturday night. Thankfully, no casualties were recorded in the incident.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing smoke and flames around 9:00 p.m., prompting calls to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS). Firefighters arrived swiftly and managed to contain the blaze before it spread to nearby structures. Though property was lost, officials confirmed that no lives were endangered.
The GNFS has launched investigations to determine the cause of the fire. Preliminary suspicions point to possible electrical faults, but officials have not yet confirmed. Shop owners are cooperating with authorities to assess damages and provide information.
Authorities have urged traders and residents in the area to:
Ensure proper electrical wiring and maintenance.
Keep fire extinguishers in shops and workplaces.
Report hazards promptly to prevent similar incidents.
While property losses were recorded, the absence of casualties has been welcomed as a relief. The GNFS continues to investigate the incident to prevent future occurrences.
