Gaza Humanitarian Crisis: Over 60,000 Dead, Children Starving as War Escalates
Over 60,000 people have died in Gaza amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. Starvation, disease, and destruction plague civilians as humanitarian aid is blocked. A growing global outcry remains unanswered.

Since the conflict between Hamas and Israel began, the people of Gaza have been witnessing death every second. The death toll has risen to over 60,000, according to recent estimates, though some local sources claim even higher numbers. Every day, every minute, every second feels like a war for survival, where civilians are not only fighting Israel but also battling hunger, disease, trauma, and destruction.
The conflict between Israel and Palestine is not new; it has a long and deeply rooted history. However, the most recent escalation began on October 7, 2023, when the Israeli government stated that Hamas launched a surprise attack during a music festival and in surrounding areas, killing around 1,200 people and taking more than 200 hostages. In response, Israel launched a massive and ongoing military operation in Gaza. What began as retaliation has turned into continuous destruction, leaving the Gaza Strip largely reduced to rubble.
Thousands of children have been killed in the attacks, along with countless other innocent Palestinians. The relentless bombardments, combined with blockades and restrictions on humanitarian aid, have created a humanitarian catastrophe.
In October 2023, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant made international headlines when he declared:
"We are fighting human animals, and we are acting accordingly."
This statement was widely condemned as dehumanizing rhetoric—words that many argue have helped justify extreme and disproportionate military measures.
Israel has been accused of using hunger as a weapon of war. According to Al Jazeera and various humanitarian organizations, at least 154 people, mostly children, have died from starvation, and hundreds of thousands remain at risk. The situation in Gaza is beyond alarming—there is no food, no clean water, no medicine, and no safe place left. All that remains are the desperate eyes of survivors, still hoping for a miracle. Newborn children are at severe risk due to the total collapse of hospitals and the lack of food and medicine essential for their survival.
All over the world, massive protests are held every day in solidarity with Gaza—but so far, no meaningful change has been witnessed. The suffering of Gazans continues unchecked.
According to a recent UN report, over 28,000 cases of malnutrition have been recorded, and the number is increasing daily. No one eats proper food anymore—hunger has become a daily reality.
Israel has not only blocked the supply of humanitarian aid but has also reportedly destroyed food trucks and aid shipments that managed to enter Gaza. The crisis is deepening by the hour, and the world remains unable or unwilling to stop it.
A Slap on the Face of Peace
This genocide and the hunger crisis are a direct slap in the face of the UN Charter and its promise of peace. Gaza today stands as a portrait of unimaginable misery. Every morning begins as a war for survival, where every human being, even animals, waits in uncertainty:
Will they find anything to eat? Will they live to see the next sunrise?
