Ondo Tragedy: 25-Year-Old Man Beheads Teenage Brother, Sparks Panic in Community

Tragedy struck Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State on Monday evening when a 25-year-old man, identified simply as Daniel, gruesomely murdered his younger brother, Emmanuel.

The shocking incident occurred at the popular Origbara River, where Daniel allegedly beheaded his 15-year-old sibling. The motive behind the horrific act remains unclear, sending waves of fear and confusion throughout the community.

According to eyewitness accounts, a local farmer caught Daniel in the act of concealing Emmanuel’s severed head in a bag, leading to his arrest.

“Some people around said they had a minor quarrel earlier, like most siblings do. But we suspect there's more to this. In this community, anyone who sheds human blood—whether for rituals or any reason—doesn’t go undetected,” a resident told reporters.

Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Olayinka Ayanlade, stated that Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, has ordered a thorough investigation. He also directed the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further action.
