Police Arrest Couple, Accomplice in Lagos Over Illegal Firearm Possession

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a couple and another woman for unlawful possession of a semi-automatic pistol.
The arrest was confirmed on Tuesday by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, via a post on his official X handle, @benHundeyin.
According to him, officers attached to the Ipaja Division apprehended the suspects during a stop-and-search operation in the Ipaja area of Lagos.
“While conducting a routine search, officers intercepted two women and insisted on checking their bags,” Hundeyin stated.
During the search, a semi-automatic pistol was discovered in one of the bags. Upon further interrogation, the women disclosed that the firearm belonged to the husband of one of them. He was later tracked down and arrested.
Hundeyin added that the case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for in-depth investigation.
“That’s one less illegal firearm in circulation,” he remarked.
