Fuel prices in Ghana have seen fresh adjustments, with petrol and diesel selling at higher rates across major outlets.
According to CediRates, the current average pump prices as of April 9, 2026, are:
Petrol (Super XP): GH₵15.19 per litre
Diesel (XP): GH₵17.85 per litre
LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas): GH₵16.59 per litre
Meanwhile, the Ghana Oil Company (GOIL) confirmed its official rates effective March 31, 2026:
Super XP (Petrol): GH₵13.30 per litre
Diesel XP: GH₵17.10 per litre
Super XP 95 (Premium Petrol): GH₵14.35 per litre
The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has warned of continued volatility, citing geopolitical tensions around the Strait of Hormuz. Analysts note that while Ghana’s fuel stock has risen to seven weeks, global supply disruptions continue to push prices upward.
Transport operators are expected to review fares in response to the new rates. Households relying on LPG for cooking will face higher monthly costs, while traders risk losses if global supply stabilizes and prices fall.
An emergency cabinet meeting is scheduled for April 9, 2026, to explore relief measures for consumers.
