Anambra Governor’s Wife Decries Assault on Corps Member in Oba

Dr. Nonye Soludo, wife of the Anambra State Governor, has condemned the assault of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Ms. Jennifer Elobor, who was reportedly stripped and humiliated by operatives of a local vigilante group in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area.

In a statement issued in Awka, Dr. Soludo described the incident as “ugly and disturbing,” stressing that it does not represent the values of Anambra State.

“There is no justification for such a humiliating abuse,” she said. “This demeaning approach to law and order does not in any way reflect our celebrated identity as a hospitable and humane people. Security operations must always be guided by dignity, civility, and respect.”

She urged the authorities already investigating the matter to take decisive action that will not only ensure justice but also serve as a deterrent. “We must do everything possible to ensure such a worrisome scene never happens again. Anambra’s image is priceless, and we must guard it jealously,” she added.

Meanwhile, the Anambra State Government has ordered the arrest of the vigilante operatives involved in the assault, assuring that justice will be served.
