In a press release by the office of the special prosecuter on Sunday, the OSP stated that, it's investigations against Ken Ofori Atta are based on standard allegations of corruption and corruption related offences including the SML deal.
The press release also revealed that, Prof. Ransford Gyampo called and sent messages to the OSP in respect of the SML while officers of the OSP and National security were still conducting a legal search of SML premises.
This response from the OSP was neccisitated by comments made by Prof. Ransford Gyampo on TV3's news analysis programme, the key points on Saturday where he stated that, he hope the OSP investigation against Ken Ofori Atta is not born out of personal vendetta.
The release concludes by stating that, while the OSP welcomes criticisms of its work, it cautioned public officials from interfearing - whether directly or through unfounded public statement as it can hinder the fight against corruption.
