The floodwaters have claimed the lives of at least 80 people, including children, while displacing thousands and causing extensive damage to homes, infrastructure, and entire communities. The hardest-hit areas include Travis, Hays, and Williamson counties.

In a personal letter dated July 8, 2025, President Mahama conveyed the deep sorrow of the Ghanaian people, expressing profound sympathy for the victims and their families.
“We are particularly saddened by the fact that many persons remain missing. On behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Ghana, and in my own name, I extend our heartfelt condolences to Your Excellency, the Government, and the people of the United States of America, especially the bereaved families and all those affected by this tragic calamity,” the letter stated.
The Ghanaian leader also acknowledged the remarkable response of emergency teams, local authorities, and volunteers, praising their courage and dedication in the face of the immense destruction. He noted the difficult work being carried out to rescue survivors and provide much-needed assistance to those impacted by the floods.
