Russian Strikes on Kyiv Kill 15+ and Injure Dozens in Largest Bombing Since Invasion
At least 15 people are dead and dozens injured in Russian missile and drone strikes on Kyiv. The attacks, lasting over 9 hours, are among the most intense since the invasion began. Ukraine’s President Zelensky calls it “pure terrorism.”

At least 15 people have died and dozens more have been injured following a devastating series of Russian missile and drone strikes on Kyiv. The attacks, which took place overnight into Tuesday, have been described as one of the largest and most intense bombings of the Ukrainian capital since the full-scale invasion began more than three years ago.
Ukraine's Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko confirmed that more than 440 drones and 32 missiles were launched at the country, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict. In a counter-response, Russia’s defense ministry claimed to have shot down 147 Ukrainian drones overnight.
Kyiv Under Fire: 9-Hour Attack Leaves City in Ruins
The bombardment on Kyiv lasted for over nine hours, with residents forced to seek refuge in underground shelters as early as midnight, not emerging until after dawn. One of the most catastrophic moments was the destruction of a nine-story apartment building by a ballistic missile. A total of 27 districts across the city were hit, leaving behind scenes of utter devastation.
Ukrainian MP Lesia Vasylenko described the harrowing morning, recalling that when she woke up, entire buildings had collapsed, and people were trapped under rubble. Rescue teams are still working tirelessly to save survivors as the sound of explosions and air defense fire fills the air.
Kyiv's Struggle Amid Rising Attacks
In a chilling development, sirens sounded once again later in the morning, disrupting ongoing rescue efforts. This attack on Kyiv marks a continuing pattern of increased air strikes on Ukrainian cities, with Russia reportedly deploying waves of drones and decoys to overwhelm Ukraine's defenses.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the strikes, calling them “pure terrorism” and accusing Russian President Vladimir Putin of launching large-scale attacks simply because “Russia can.” Zelensky's words echoed his frustration with the global community’s inaction, urging world leaders to take a stand against the brutality being inflicted on innocent civilians.
Odesa Also Targeted: Casualties Reported
In addition to the devastating attacks on Kyiv, a drone strike also hit the southern city of Odesa. One person was killed and at least 10 others were injured, according to Klymenko.
Zelensky had hoped to meet U.S. President Donald Trump during the G7 summit in Canada on Tuesday to discuss Ukraine's military and strategic objectives. However, Trump left the summit early due to rising tensions in the Middle East, leaving Ukraine’s leadership disappointed.
This attack further highlights the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, with Russia showing no signs of easing its air campaign. As the death toll continues to rise, the world watches, uncertain of when or how the violence will come to an end.
