Adekunle Ajasin University Students Raise Alarm Over Disappearance of Two Colleagues

Students at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State, are gripped by concern following the mysterious disappearance of two second-year students, Andrel Eloho Okah from the Department of History and International Studies, Faculty of Arts, and John Friday Abba from the Department of Economics, Faculty of Agriculture. The duo, both in their 200 level, have been missing for over two weeks, prompting widespread worry across the campus.

According to sources within the university, the absence of Okah and Abba from lectures and academic activities has raised red flags among classmates and faculty. A fellow student, Ajibola, confirmed the incident on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, noting that all attempts to contact the missing students via their mobile phones have been unsuccessful. “For over two weeks, they’ve been absent from classes. We’ve searched everywhere, but we can’t find them, and we’re deeply worried,” Ajibola told The Nation. He added, “We don’t know if it’s a kidnapping or something else. Their phones are unreachable, and their sudden disappearance is alarming.”

The close friendship between Okah and Abba has fueled speculation, but their whereabouts remain unknown, intensifying fears within the student community. Students have reported the matter to both the university management and the police, expressing frustration over the lack of tangible progress. “We’re being told to stay calm, with suggestions they might be on vacation, but the student body is agitated and desperate for answers,” Ajibola said.

A university management source, speaking to The Nation, confirmed that the institution is aware of the situation and is collaborating with the police to investigate. “We’re exploring all possibilities, including the students’ activities on campus, to uncover what might have happened,” the source stated, acknowledging suspicions about the circumstances surrounding the disappearance.
