The National Youth Authority (NYA) Coordinator for Amenfi East, Isaac Odeifour Buadi, has lauded the government for opening the security services recruitment portal, describing the move as a strong demonstration of commitment to youth empowerment. According to him, the current large-scale recruitment drive is a significant departure from what he termed the “inactive posture” of the previous NPP administration regarding youth engagement.

Speaking in an interview with The Crusading Guide, Mr. Buadi noted that the overwhelming turnout across the country is a testament to the renewed trust Ghanaian youth have in the NDC government. He said the rush for forms clearly indicates that the present administration has become more attractive and credible in the eyes of young people.

He, however, expressed concern over the unfortunate stampede recorded at some recruitment centres, extending his condolences to the bereaved families. Mr. Buadi urged authorities to adopt firmer and more strategic crowd-management measures to prevent such incidents in the future. He recommended a phased recruitment approach—such as breaking the 1,500 applicants into smaller batches—to ease congestion at application points.

Responding to claims that recruitment opportunities were being reserved for only NDC supporters, Mr. Buadi dismissed the allegations as mere propaganda. He stressed that the national recruitment exercise is not a party affair and should remain accessible to every qualified Ghanaian regardless of political affiliation.

Touching further on concerns from some NDC members who complained about not receiving “protocol slots,” he advised party supporters to exercise patience. He said it would be unfair and unprofessional to deny deserving applicants opportunities simply because they do not belong to a particular political party, emphasising that national service must always be placed above partisan demands.

Mr. Buadi also used the platform to commend former President John Dramani Mahama for appointing capable and youth-focused leaders such as George Opare Addo to steer the Youth Ministry. He said the decision to strengthen and properly demarcate the ministry reflects Mahama’s unwavering commitment to youth development.

He further praised the Member of Parliament for Amenfi East and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for their developmental interventions in the municipality. He cited ongoing works, including a three-classroom block, ten boreholes, and the reshaping of several access roads, as visible evidence of transformation under the current leadership.

According to him, the municipality has enjoyed improved calm and stability since the NDC took office, crediting the development to responsible leadership and responsive governance. He urged the youth in the area to avoid misinformation and continue supporting the government’s programmes.

Mr. Buadi revealed that the NYA in Amenfi East is currently rolling out several modules, including a Fire Service initiative aimed at equipping young people with practical skills. He said more than 160 youth have already benefitted from free vocational training under the NYA, with each receiving a monthly stipend of GH₵500 alongside payments to their trainers. He added that plans are advanced to increase the stipends to GH₵800 or more to enhance the livelihood of beneficiaries.
