Bayelsa State Police Parade Eight Suspects in Kidnapping of High Court Judge
The Bayelsa State Police Command has apprehended and paraded eight individuals linked to the abduction of Justice E.G. Omukoro, a judge of the Bayelsa State High Court.
Justice Omukoro was kidnapped on June 21, 2025, in Yenagoa and was successfully rescued after 12 days in captivity. The State Commissioner of Police, CP Francis Idu, presented the suspects to the media in Yenagoa on Thursday, July 24, 2025, revealing that the alleged mastermind of the kidnapping remains at large.
According to CP Idu, the suspects confessed to various roles in the abduction. He commended the collaborative efforts of the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies, noting that the rescue operation was significantly aided by advanced technology recently deployed across the state capital.
The Bayelsa State Police Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice and enhancing security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
