Ex-CalBank boss to lead 9-member board under government’s recapitalisation plan

Government has appointed former CalBank Managing Director, Frank Adu Jnr, as the Chairman of a newly reconstituted Board of Directors for the National Investment Bank (NIB).

Mr Adu Jnr will steer a 9-member board, tasked with guiding the bank through a new phase of reforms, independence, and professionalism.

Other members of the board include:

  • Dr. Othniel Ekow Kwainoe
  • Ebenezer Kwaku Addo
  • Dr. Mrs. Mercy Naa Aku Ofei-Koranteng
  • Dr. Shani Bashiru
  • Mr. Max George Cobbina
  • Dr. Kwasi Akyem Apea-Kubi
  • Dr. Alfred Attuquaye Botchway

Announcing the development in a post on Facebook, Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson praised the new board’s composition, describing it as a “bold decision” by government aimed at restoring NIB’s credibility and operational strength.

“Under this new leadership, NIB will operate with the independence and professionalism it deserves,” the post read.
“I am pleased to announce that the government has made a bold decision to recapitalise NIB.”

According to Dr Forson, full details of the bank’s recapitalisation plan will be revealed during the upcoming Mid-Year Budget Review.

The announcement signals government’s renewed commitment to stabilising and transforming NIB into a competitive and viable development finance institution.
