Ghanaians Value Gospel Music More – Pita

Nigerian gospel singer Pita has commended Ghana for its strong support for gospel music, highlighting key differences between Ghana and Nigeria in terms of sponsorship and airplay. Speaking during a recent interview, he expressed admiration for the way gospel music thrives in Ghana compared to his home country.

Pita pointed out that corporate sponsorship for gospel events in Nigeria is rare because many companies consider the country a secular nation. In contrast, Ghanaian brands are more willing to associate with gospel initiatives. He noted that this level of support significantly boosts the gospel music industry in Ghana.

Additionally, he observed how radio stations in Ghana play gospel music throughout the day, unlike in Nigeria, where Christian music is mostly reserved for Sundays. Some Nigerian stations, he said, struggle to continue playing gospel music past the early hours and quickly switch to secular songs.

Beyond music, Pita also shared his impression of Ghanaian culture, describing Ghanaians as polite, well-mannered, and deeply cultured. However, he humorously mentioned that the cost of living in Ghana has increased.

Meanwhile, Pita hosted The Gratitude Concert on March 16, 2025, at Keepers House Chapel in Accra, bringing together gospel music lovers for a night of worship and thanksgiving.
