Aduana Family in Abesewa appeals to Otumfour Osei Tutu II to resolve Abesewa chieftaincy impasse to drive home development.
The Aduana Family of Abesewa, a community in the Ahafo Ano South District of the Ashanti Region, has formally appealed to the Asantehene, His Royal Majesty Otumfour Osei Tutu II, to urgently resolve an ongoing chieftaincy dispute within their community which is hindering the necessary development in the area and negatively impacting peaceful coexistence among the residents.
Kyeame Kwadwo Antwi, a Royal of Abesewa and the Linguist of Abrenyase speaking with Newsmen in a Press Conference, stated that one Mr. Kwabena Boateng has been unlawfully enstooled as the Chief of Abesewa by their family head. The Aduana Family is contesting this decision, as they find it incomprehensible.
He mentioned that the Asantehene had previously nullified an enstoolment, which led to misunderstandings within the Abesewa township. Consequently, the family is not convinced by the process that led to the appointment of another chief, which was not transparently communicated to the family involved. Hence, they do not accept the decision of the Abusuapanin and are imploring the Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II to intervene in the chieftaincy matter.
They request that the families involved be summoned to Manhyia to address the ongoing issues, which, according to him, have hindered the progress and development of Abesewa.
Mr. Kwasi Boakye, a member of the Aduana Royal Family in Abesewa, explained that the Chief of Abrenyase recently informed the Abesewa family about the official resignation of the Chief of Abesewa, Nana Subin, due to health concerns.
According to Mr. Kwasi Boakye, upon returning to Abesewa approximately a week later, he discovered that the Abusuapanin had supervised the enstoolment of Mr. Kwabena Boateng, with an excuse that he was directed by the Abrenyase Hene, without involving any family members which the Aduana Family has appealed to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for prompt intervention to address the situation, as it has led to division within the Abesewa township, thereby hindering unity and impeding progress and development.
