Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo, widely known as “Kantanka, the African Star,” has died peacefully on Thursday, September 11, 2025, the Safo family and the Kristo Asafo Church have confirmed.

Known as a man of God, technological innovator, philanthropist, agriculturalist, and industrialist, Apostle Safo was a national icon whose life impacted many. Biblical verse, Romans 14:8, cited in the family’s communique, reflected his devotion: “For if we live, we live to the Lord and if we die, we die to the Lord.”

His journey through life was curved by resilience, courage, and determination. Owner of the Kantanka brand, he elevated Ghana’s technological and industrial spheres while dedicating himself to philanthropy and community development.

The communique labelled him as “a true genius, a beacon of hope for many, and a father to the fatherless,” mentioning that Ghana has lost a gallant son and a true legend. Tributes and memorial schedules are anticipated in the coming days as the nation honours his enduring legacy.

“The burial and funeral arrangements shall be duly communicated in the coming days,” an official communique, signed by his daughter and former leglistor, Sarah Adwoa Safo, added.
