Katsina Police Rescue 28 Kidnap Victims, Foil Bandit Attacks in Sabuwa

The Katsina State Police Command has rescued 28 kidnapped victims and thwarted two separate attacks by armed bandits in Sabuwa Local Government Area.
This was disclosed in a statement released on Tuesday by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, who said the operations were part of ongoing efforts to combat banditry and kidnapping under the directive of Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu.
According to Aliyu, the first incident occurred on July 29 around 9:24 a.m. when bandits blocked the Sabuwa–Kaya road near Inno Junction and abducted 14 people. Acting on a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer led a team of operatives who engaged the assailants in a gunfight and rescued all the victims unharmed. Unfortunately, one person, 27-year-old Abba from Funtua, was shot and killed during the attack.
In a separate attack the night before, on July 28 at about 11:27 p.m., bandits raided Zagaizagi village in the same LGA, abducting several residents. Police operatives responded promptly, exchanged gunfire with the attackers, and successfully rescued 14 more victims. Two rustled cows were recovered, though two villagers lost their lives in the assault.
Aliyu said efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
Commissioner Shehu praised the operatives for their courage and swift action, urging the public to continue sharing credible information to aid security efforts.
