President John Dramani Mahama has directed the minister of communication to reverse the suspension of 64 radio stations over regulatory breaches.

In a letter issued by the minister incharge of government communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the President is of the view that, the minister of communication must liase with the NCA to find a way to address the regulatory breaches by the 64 radio stations.

The 64 radio stations  including Wontumi radio and Asaase radio were found to have failed to comply with the NCA regulations.

The breaches include failure to renew their licence as required by law.

According to the statement from the presidency, the decision to suspend these radio stations can affect press freedom in Ghana and there is the need to find a solution to that.
