Man Attacks Ex-Girlfriend, Kills Her Mother in Borno Farm Tragedy

A tragic incident unfolded in the Dille District of Askira/Uba Local Government Area, Borno State, where a man, identified as Abubakar Ijidai, allegedly attacked his former girlfriend and killed her mother on their farm.

The attack occurred around 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, while 18-year-old Lami Azuba and her 38-year-old mother, Hauwa Azuba, were working on their farm.

According to reports, the assailant, who is from the same community, approached the victims and attacked them with a machete before fleeing the scene, leaving both women critically wounded.

Sources told security analyst Zagazola Makama that officers from the Lassa Police Outpost responded promptly, evacuating the victims to the General Hospital in Lassa. Tragically, Hauwa was declared dead on arrival, while Lami, who sustained severe injuries, was transferred to the General Hospital in Mubi, Adamawa State, for advanced medical care.

Police confirmed that the deceased’s body was documented and released to the family for burial in line with Christian rites.

The community has expressed outrage over the brutal attack and is demanding swift justice. Meanwhile, police say a manhunt is underway to apprehend the suspect and ensure he faces the full weight of the law.
