APC’s Rabiu Mukhtar Still in Race as Jigawa Judiciary Refutes Disqualification Rumors

The Jigawa State Judiciary has dismissed reports circulating on social media that the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Rabiu Mukhtar, was barred from contesting the Babura/Garki Federal Constituency by-election scheduled for this Saturday.
In a statement issued on Friday, the judiciary described the claims as false and misleading, urging the public to disregard them. Officials emphasized that no court in the state has issued any ruling disqualifying Mukhtar or restricting his participation in the electoral process.
The clarification comes amid heightened political tension ahead of the by-election, with different parties mobilizing support to secure victory in what is seen as a keenly contested race.
The judiciary also cautioned against the spread of fake news, warning that such misinformation could undermine public trust in the electoral and judicial processes.
With this confirmation, Mukhtar remains on the ballot as APC’s flagbearer for Saturday’s election.
