Newly Agric Officer Reviews Impactful Initiatives With Local Farmers And Assured Good Legacy Life

Wassa Amenfi East District has welcomed a new District Agricultural Officer, Mr Nelson Konkombo who has promptly assured cocoa farmers of his commitment to transparency in his dealings with them. 

The district, predominantly inhabited by farmers, relies heavily on cocoa production as a major source of income. 

Other key products include oil palm, rice, Animals, plantain, and cassava, with vegetable growing being done mainly on a subsistence basis.

The new officer's assurance comes at a crucial time, as cocoa farmers in the district face challenges, including the devastating impact of galamsey (illegal mining) on their farms and livelihoods. Galamsey has been known to destroy productive cocoa areas in the district, causing concern among farmers and local authorities alike.
