Four suspects arrested for killing a 70 years old woman
Four suspects have been arrested by the North East Regional Police Command for accusing and killing a 70 year old woman of witchcraft.

Police in the Bunkpurugu Yoyoo District in the North East Region have arrested four people in connection with the killing of a 70 year old woman , accused of witchcraft at Sagbani village in the North east region .
In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the North East Regional Police Command, DSP Robert Anabiik Anmain, on Tuesday , 15th July, 2025, the four suspects, namely, Suuk Jakwa, 67, Banyiwoo Ntookwib, 32, Moapya Kwayaja, 30, Amos Nlaji, 29 and others currently at large, accused the deceased of practicing witchcraft and lynched her.
The suspects later left the village after their criminal offense in an attempt to escape justice but was arrested at their different hideout in villages around Bumkpurugu by the Regional Police Command four days after they fled the village. They are currently in police custody and would be processed to court after investigation.
The police condemned the act describing it as barbaric . They therefore advised Ghanaians to stop accusing the elderly of witchcraft and to stop subjecting them to violent attacks.
“ No one has the right to take the law into their own hands. These inhumane act will not be tolerated”the police warned.
They insisted that anyone involved in such acts would face legal actions when arrested.
