The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Assin North, Hon. Sylvester Amakye Nyarkoh, has paid a working visit to four public basic schools in the district as part of activities to mark the annual “My First Day at School” initiative.

The initiative, which welcomes new entrants into Kindergarten One and Primary One, saw the DCE accompanied by the District Director of Education, Mr. Ahmed Tijani Hassan, and other officials.

The beneficiaries include Assin Kushia Anglican Basic School, Assin Achiano D/A Basic and Assin Asempanaye R/C Basic School.

During the visits, the pupils were warmly welcomed with words of encouragement and refreshments, including Kalypo drinks and biscuits, to make their first day a joyful and memorable one.

Hon. Sylvester Amakye-Nyarkoh also donated vital teaching and learning materials such as exercise books, pencils, erasers, and sharpeners.

Additionally, he presented 15 hexagonal chairs to each KG department in the schools, stressing the government’s commitment to improving early childhood education. He encouraged the pupils to take their studies seriously in order to become good future leaders.

Receiving the items on behalf of the schools, District Education Director Mr. Ahmed Tijani Hassan expressed sincere appreciation to the DCE. He highlighted that KG pupils had previously been using high chairs not suited to their age, which posed health and posture concerns.

He commended the intervention as timely and urged school authorities to maintain the furniture properly to ensure its longevity.
